For those of you wondering, the Galaxy S III runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The phone includes extras from Samsung like the S Beam and the S Voice feature.
There's no need for us to tell you the importance of the Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III for both its own manufacturer and the Android world in general - our daily interest stats speak for themselves. The Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III seems to bring all the latest and greatest technology in the mobile world under one roof. A lengthy list for sure and pretty great for the most part. In addition to plenty of extra screen estate, resolution and processing power, the Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III brings a new, much larger battery, the futuristic sounding eye-tracking technology, and also hides several cool software tricks up its sleeve.
Samsung Thursday unveiled the Galaxy S III, the highly-anticipated successor of the popular Galaxy S II, and of course, the iPhone’s newest big rival.
The display of the Samsung Galaxy S III is huge. It’s 4.8 inches in diagonal, bigger than the HTC One X’s 4.7 inches or the Galaxy Nexus’ 4.65 inches.
But while the screen is bigger, the resolution has not gone up: It’s still 1280 pixels by 720 pixels, as with the One X and Galaxy Nexus, making the S III pixel density 306 pixels per inch (ppi), which is still below the iPhone 4S’ 326 ppi for its 3.5-inch screen--which is the leading pixel density in this comparison.
The iPhone 4S and the Galaxy Nexus are 0.37 inches thick, while the chunkiest is the Nokia Lumia 900 at 0.45 inches. The HTC One X has a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, while the iPhone 4S runs on Apple’s A5 1GHz dual-core chip. The Galaxy S III will come in 16GB and 32GB versions, with a 64GB model promised.
Samsung didn’t go overboard in the camera department.
The design of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is similar to its predecessor with a few minor changes. Samsung said the shape is 'inspired by nature' but what really matters is the size, weight and feel. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is very thin at just 8.6mm and light for a large phone at 133g. The Galaxy S3 handset is available in a dark blue colour and white. As expected the Galaxy S3 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 4 Quad processor, something we actually knew before the launch event. Strangely Samsung hasn't specified the amount of RAM but the performance is silky smooth. In terms of internal storage, the Galaxy S3 matches the iPhone 4S and has 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacity options. Many different rumours bounced around leading up to the launch about the Galaxy S3’s display. The Galaxy S3 screen is stunning and comparable in quality to the one found on the HTC One X. Other connectivity in the Galaxy S3 includes the standard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB as well as near-field communications (NFC) technology and support for the digital living network alliance (DLNA) standard.
There are no prizes for guessing that the Galaxy S3 is running on Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. To be precise, version 4.0.4 coupled with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface overlay.
The Galaxy S3 phone is also packed with various software features.
You can unlock the Galaxy S3 phone by saying something like "Hi Galaxy" and do tasks like get weather forecasts, send emails and set reminders.
Direct Call allows you to instantly call the person you are sending a text message to by lifting the Galaxy S3 phone to your ear. Before Samsung announced the Galaxy S3 we weren’t sure whether it would have an 8Mp or 12Mp camera. We haven’t been able to give the camera a full run for its money because of our restricted time inside Earls Court with the Galaxy S3 phone. Samsung has fitted the phone with a whopping 2100mAh battery promising rival beating battery life.
